But before you start sipping mulled wine at the lounge or racing down the runs, you’ll need to figure out how to get to Club Med Kiroro in the first place. Let’s break it down.

How to Get to Club Med Kiroro: Quick Overview

First things first. Club Med Kiroro is located around 110 km west of New Chitose Airport, near the coastal town of Otaru. There are two Club Med resorts in the area, Club Med Kiroro Peak and Club Med Kiroro Grand, and both are reachable by air, train, road, or a combination of all three. Whether you want the convenience of a shuttle or prefer to road trip through snowy countryside, there’s an option for you.

Fly Into New Chitose Airport (CTS)

The easiest way to get to Club Med Kiroro is by flying into New Chitose Airport. It’s the main international airport in Hokkaido and connects to cities across Asia and the rest of Japan. Once you land, you’ll find several ways to continue your journey to Club Med Kiroro.

How to Get to Club Med Kiroro From the Airport?

Shared Shuttle Service

Club Med runs a shared shuttle from New Chitose Airport straight to both Kiroro Peak and Kiroro Grand. It’s an easy, ski-friendly option that takes around two hours. Along the way, you’ll pass snowy forests, mountain backdrops, and little towns that look like they’ve come straight out of a postcard.

Arrange your transfer when you book and confirm that it appears on your voucher. Transfers are included in a Club Med fly-and-stay package, but normally cost extra when flights are booked separately. Club Med’s transfer instructions dated 29 August 2026 ask guests with separately booked flights to submit flight details at least 5 days before their stay, or at least 14 days ahead for private transfers. These are information deadlines, not a guarantee that a last-minute vehicle or seat is available.

Before buying flights, check the transfer in both directions. Club Med warns that late arrivals and flights departing before 11:00 may fall outside the Kiroro Grand shared-transfer schedule. Do not rely on an old airline timetable or assume that every later flight is covered. Private Transfer

If you’d rather skip waiting or travel at your own pace, private transfers are available too. These are perfect for families or small groups who want the vehicle to themselves. It can cost more than the shared shuttle, especially if you’re travelling solo or as a small family, but with more people, it might actually work out cheaper.

Take the Train

For a scenic route, take JR Hokkaido from New Chitose Airport to Otaru Station. The fastest advertised journey is 73 minutes, but actual travel time depends on the train and any connection. Only some airport trains run directly to Otaru, so check the destination before boarding. The adult one-way fare is ¥2,040 for a non-reserved seat or ¥3,040 for a reserved seat, checked on 29 October 2026.

From Otaru, you still need a road transfer to Kiroro; the train does not reach the resort. Kiroro’s official winter access guide quotes taxis from ¥12,000 one way, taking about 40 minutes. Road conditions and other circumstances can add to the charge. Reserve the return journey too: taxis do not wait at Kiroro for passengers.

A seasonal Otaru–Kiroro bus is another option, but it is not a year-round local service at a fixed fare. The published top-season timetable for 19 December 2026–14 March 2027 lists one-way fares of ¥2,200 for ages 13 and above and ¥1,600 for ages 3–12; children aged 2 and under travel free without a seat. It includes Club Med Kiroro Grand and Peak stops. Check the exact boarding point, operating day and departure before connecting from a train: some extra services run only on specified days. Outside those dates, use the timetable for your actual travel period rather than assuming this service continues.

Self-Drive to Club Med Kiroro

If you like road trips and don’t mind winter driving, you can rent a car at New Chitose Airport and head out on your own. Malaysian drivers should arrange the correct international driving permit before departure and carry their original physical Malaysian driving licence and passport. Japan recognises IDPs issued in the 1949 Geneva Convention format, not every document sold as an international licence. Check the rental company’s document and vehicle requirements too.

Allow around two hours from the airport, and longer in difficult winter conditions. Reserve a properly winter-equipped vehicle, confirm snow tyres and any chain requirements with the rental company, and avoid driving on snow if you are not confident. Kiroro lists approximately 1,900 outdoor parking spaces across the resort; confirm the parking and drop-off arrangements for your booked hotel rather than assuming a space at its entrance.
