Are guests with tattoos allowed at Mina Mina Beach and Kirin-no-Yu?
Yes, but they must not be exposed in public view. Japan has strict traditional rules regarding body art, and the Tomamu complex strictly enforces them regardless of tattoo size or design:
- At Mina Mina Beach (Pool Area): You must cover your tattoos completely. You can easily do this by wearing a rash guard, swim tights, or waterproof tattoo cover stickers.
- At Kirin-no-Yu (Open-Air Bath): Because clothing and swimwear are strictly prohibited inside the bathhouse, you must cover your tattoos entirely using skin-colored waterproof stickers or patches. Keep in mind that if a tattoo is too large to be completely covered by patches, you will not be permitted to enter the bathing area. (Note: Cover stickers are available for purchase at Mina Mina Beach if you forget to pack them!)
Do I need to bring swimwear for Mina Mina Beach and the Kirin-no-Yu open-air bath?
Swimwear is strictly mandatory for the main indoor wave pool and the children’s plastic pool area at Mina Mina Beach.
However, the exact opposite rule applies to Kirin-no-Yu, the beautiful public bathhouse located inside the same complex. Traditional Japanese etiquette applies here: the hot water baths are strictly separated by gender, and swimwear, undergarments, or clothing of any kind are entirely prohibited in the water.
Are we guaranteed to see the "Sea of Clouds" at Unkai Terrace?
No, it is never guaranteed. The spectacular Unkai (Sea of Clouds) is a natural weather phenomenon that requires highly specific atmospheric conditions (usually occurring on clear, crisp summer mornings). The success rate of seeing a full blanket of clouds sits at around 40% throughout the summer season.
Important Ticketing & Logistics Note: Please note that gondola access to the Unkai Terrace is not included in your standard Club Med package. Tickets for the gondola must be purchased directly at the Club Med reception. Because the weather changes rapidly, we highly recommend checking the Unkai status monitor first thing in the morning before heading up.
- Travelution Tip: Don’t worry about wasting money if the weather takes an unexpected turn! You can purchase your tickets at reception ahead of time to avoid morning rushes, and if you choose not to go, unused and undamaged tickets can be fully returned to reception for a refund. Even on days when the cloud blanket doesn’t fully form, the panoramic, emerald-green views of the Hokkaido highlands from the Cloud Walk are breathtaking.
What should I pack? What are the essential summer clothing tips?
Because Hokkaido features a unique highland climate, packing the right layers is key to staying comfortable:
- Daytime: Light, breathable sportswear is perfect for active pursuits like the flying trapeze, archery, or mountain biking.
- Evening: While daytime temperatures sit at a comfortable 22°C to 25°C, the alpine air drops rapidly once the sun sets behind the peaks. We highly recommend packing a light windbreaker, cardigan, or fleece jacket for evening strolls and outdoor dinners.
- Footwear: Pack a pair of sturdy sneakers or trail-running shoes. Flip-flops are great for the pool, but you will need closed-toe shoes with good grip to safely participate in guided mountain treks or mountain biking.

- Rates: Club Med package prices are per adult, based on double occupancy in a Superior Room for selected check-in dates.
- Rates Include: Accommodation, all-day dining, open bar, group sports lessons, entertainment and kids’ clubs (4+ years)
- Not Included: Flight tickets, airport transfers, travel insurance, visas, private sports lessons, excursions, laundry services, room surcharges, childcare for children below 4 years old, premium dishes and drinks, items marked with an asterisk (*), and personal expenses unless otherwise stated.
- Final Price: Rates are dynamic and may change at any time without prior notice. Prices are only confirmed once payment has been received and the booking has been successfully validated.
Age-Based Discounts
- Teens (12–17 years): Up to 20% off the adult rate.
- Children (4–11 years): Up to 40% off the adult rate.
- Toddlers & Infants (Under 4 years): Stay for free.
Age Restrictions & Check-In Eligibility
- Accompanied Minors Policy: In strict compliance with Club Med global policies and the local laws of the destination country, guests who are below the drinking age of the destination country cannot book a resort stay independently.
- Booking Requirement: Any guest under the legal drinking age must be registered in the same booking as an accompanying adult who has reached the drinking age in that destination country
- Enforcement: Club Med reserves the right to request valid passport verification upon check-in. Failure to comply with local age eligibility rules will result in the immediate denial of resort entry and the cancellation of the stay by the resort, with a 100% cancellation penalty applied to the client.
Reservation Changes (Days Before Check-in):
- 60 or more days: A fee of MYR200 per person applies for amendments. However, the fee will be waived if the new booking is of a higher value, and you will only need to pay the fare difference.
- Within 60 Days: Subject to cancellation charges below.
Cancellation Charges (Days Before Check-in):
- 60 or more days: Deposit is forfeited
- 59 to 31 days: 50% of total holiday cost
- 30 to 15 days: 70% of total holiday cost
- 14 to 0 days: 100% of total holiday cost
Payment Schedule
- More than 60 days from check-in: A deposit of 20% of the total holiday cost is required to secure your reservation. The remaining 80% balance must be settled at least 60 days before check-in.
- Within 60 days of check-in: Full payment (100%) is required immediately upon booking to validate and confirm your stay.
- If your package includes airfare, 100% of the flight cost is required at the time of booking, regardless of the check-in date.
- Failure to settle the balance by the 60-day deadline may result in the automatic cancellation of your booking and forfeiture of the deposit.

- Restrictions: Minimum stay requirements may apply during peak periods or when availability is limited.
- Promotions: All promotions are subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time. Certain offers may not be valid during blackout dates, especially during peak travel seasons such as Chinese New Year, year-end holidays, and school holidays.
- Peak Seasons: Rates are subject to increase during high-demand travel periods, school holidays, and when room availability becomes limited.
