Early Arrival Fee

If your flight or drive brings you to the resort earlier than check-in time, Club Med Borneo offers an early arrival option so you can slip straight into holiday mode. You’ll be able to settle in, enjoy lunch, or take part in the activities while waiting for your room to be ready. There’s a small fee for this service, but it’s waived if you booked a Club Med flight package or if you’re a Silver, Gold, or Platinum Great Members loyalty member. It’s a simple perk that helps you start making memories from the very first moment you arrive.

Flights to Kota Kinabalu Airport

The nearest airport to Club Med Borneo is Kota Kinabalu International Airport, BKI. There are daily direct flights from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to Kota Kinabalu.

Once you arrive, the resort is approximately a two hour drive from the airport. Club Med provides shared airport transfers, so you can sit back and enjoy the journey without having to arrange your own transport..

While Club Med Borneo has plenty to keep you busy, it’s also worth exploring the surrounding area. From nature experiences to cultural gems and food stops, here are a few highlights you won’t want to miss.

1. Kota Kinabalu City Waterfront
Just under 2 hours from the resort, the city waterfront is perfect for an evening stroll, sunset views, local markets and seafood dinners. It’s a great introduction to Sabah’s vibe.

2. Tanjung Aru Beach
A beautiful beach spot near Kota Kinabalu, known for its long stretch of sand and stunning sunset views. It’s casual, relaxed, and a great spot after a day at Club Med.

3. Signal Hill Observatory
For sweeping views over Kota Kinabalu and the surrounding islands, head up to Signal Hill. It’s a short stop but offers one of the best panoramic city views.

4. Filipino Market (Handicraft Market)
A lively market in Kota Kinabalu where you’ll find local crafts, souvenirs, fresh produce and colourful stalls. Great if you’re looking for handicrafts and local finds.

5. KK Wetland Centre
A peaceful nature stop with boardwalks through mangroves. It’s easy, educational, and a nice contrast to resort life.

6. Mari Mari Cultural Village
Around 45–60 minutes from Kota Kinabalu, this village tour showcases Sabah’s indigenous cultures, traditional houses, food tastings and cultural performances. It’s educational and fun.

7. Mount Kinabalu & Kinabalu Park
Although a longer trip Kinabalu Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and worth a day trip. You can enjoy cool highland scenery, nature walks and cafes. Mt Kinabalu itself is iconic.

8. Poring Hot Springs
Often combined with Kinabalu Park visits, this area has hot springs, canopy walks and jungle trails.

9. Island Hopping –  Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park
From Kota Kinabalu, you can take boat trips to coral islands such as Manukan, Sapi or Gaya. Great for snorkeling, swimming, and beach fun.

10. Kundasang and Desa Cattle Farm
A scenic highland town near Mount Kinabalu. Think rolling hills, cooler weather, green pastures and alpaca-style farms.
