Where to Travel During Malaysia School Holidays 2027

Now that you have the school holiday dates, there’s another question.

Where should you go?

Some families love spending their holidays by the beach. Others prefer exploring new places or trying something different.

And then there are children who have one thing on their wish list.

Snow!

The good news is that there’s a holiday for almost every type of family.

Here are a few Club Med destinations worth considering for each school break.

March 2027 School Holidays: A Tropical Family Escape

School Holiday Dates: 5 to 14 March 2027, depending on your state.

The March school holidays may only last nine days, but that’s enough time for a family getaway.

You could spend a week skiing in Japan. Or perhaps you’d rather relax by the beach somewhere warm.

Here are some of our favourite ideas.

Club Med Kiroro Grand, Japan: Skiing During the March School Holidays

Who says you need to wait until December for a ski holiday?

March is still ski season in Hokkaido, Japan.

And if your family has always wanted to experience snow, Club Med Kiroro Grand is worth considering.

Located in the mountains of Hokkaido, the resort is known for its snowy scenery and access to the Kiroro ski area.

March is often a lovely time to visit.

The weather is generally milder than in January and February. Yet there’s usually still plenty of snow on the slopes.

For families trying skiing for the first time, Club Med makes things easier.

Your all inclusive ski package generally includes group ski or snowboard lessons, lift passes, meals, drinks and entertainment.

Ski equipment rental is available at an extra cost.

Children can join age appropriate Kids Club activities, while parents enjoy time on the slopes.

And after a day in the snow? There’s nothing quite like returning to a warm resort for dinner.

Travelution Tip: March is a great month to consider a family ski holiday. Just remember that snow conditions can change, even in Hokkaido.

Club Med Borneo, Malaysia: A New Family Holiday in Sabah

Prefer sunshine to snow?

How about spending your March school holidays at the new Club Med Borneo?

Located in Kuala Penyu, Sabah, this resort is set along a beautiful stretch of coastline.

It’s surrounded by tropical scenery, with beaches, forests and mangroves nearby.

For Malaysian families, it’s a chance to enjoy a Club Med holiday without travelling overseas.

You can spend your days relaxing by the pool, trying different activities or simply enjoying time together.

Children can look forward to fun activities, while parents have a chance to slow down.

And if you want to experience more of Sabah, there are opportunities to explore the local culture and natural surroundings.

Club Med Borneo is scheduled to welcome its first guests in November 2026, making March 2027 one of the resort’s early school holiday travel periods.

Club Med Phuket, Thailand: Beach Fun for Everyone

Looking for a beach holiday with plenty to do?

Club Med Phuket is another option for the March school holidays.

Located beside Kata Beach, the resort offers a mix of sports, activities and entertainment.

Children can have fun at the Kids Clubs, while parents enjoy the pool or try something new.

March is also generally a good month for visiting Phuket, with warm weather and plenty of sunshine.

Club Med Bintan, Indonesia

Don’t feel like taking a long flight?

Club Med Bintan is a convenient option for families travelling through Singapore or Pasir Gudang in Johor

A ferry ride takes you to Bintan, where you can enjoy beaches, greenery and a slower pace of life.

It’s a good choice if you want to spend less time travelling and more time enjoying your holiday.

May and June 2027 School Holidays: Time for a Longer Family Adventure

School Holiday Dates: 21 May to 6 June 2027, depending on your state.

The mid year school holidays are one of the best times to plan a longer family trip.

With 16 days off school, there’s more room to travel without rushing.

You could spend a week at a resort or include a few days exploring a nearby city.

Here are some destinations to consider.

Club Med Guilin, China

Want something different from the usual beach holiday?

Club Med Guilin could be just what you’re looking for.

Guilin is famous for its beautiful mountains and peaceful countryside.

The resort offers plenty of space for families to relax and enjoy activities together.

There’s also a creative side to Club Med Guilin, with arts and cultural experiences alongside sports and entertainment.

It’s a lovely option for families who enjoy nature and want to see another side of China.

Club Med Bali, Indonesia

May and June are generally good months to visit Bali.

The island is moving into its drier season, making it a popular time for outdoor activities.

For a family stay at Club Med Bali, check the family-service reopening dates before choosing a late-May 2027 arrival.

Family-service update, checked 29 October 2026: Club Med Malaysia’s dedicated Bali update says families of all ages return from 29 May 2027, with refreshed Kids Club spaces and children’s and teens’ services. However, the UK resort’s prominent notice still says the resort is restricted to guests aged 12 and over, without Kids Clubs or dedicated teen programmes and services, through 31 May 2027.

For late-May travel, especially 29–31 May 2027, ask Travelution or Club Med to confirm the accepted ages, Kids Club availability and family services for every date of your stay before booking. Do not rely on the earlier reopening date alone.

June departures may still suit a family holiday once services have resumed. Confirm the arrangements for your exact stay rather than treating the whole May–June school break as unavailable.

December 2027 School Holidays: Time for Snow, Skiing and Winter Adventures

School Holiday Dates: 3 to 31 December 2027, depending on your state.

For many Malaysian families, December means one thing.

Snow!

And there’s something special about seeing your children experience snow for the first time.

Some can’t wait to build a snowman. Others are ready to put on their skis and head for the slopes.

If you’re planning a winter holiday, Club Med has several ski resorts in Japan and China worth considering.

Club Med Kiroro Grand, Japan

Located in Hokkaido, Club Med Kiroro Grand is a popular choice for families.

The resort offers access to ski slopes, group lessons and activities for different ages.

Children can join Kids Club programmes, while adults enjoy skiing or snowboarding.

And with meals, drinks and entertainment included, there’s less to organise during your stay.

Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido, Japan

Club Med Tomamu is another option for a family ski holiday.

The resort is set in Hokkaido’s mountain scenery and offers skiing, snowboarding and other winter experiences.

It’s suitable for families who want a mix of snow activities and time to relax.

Club Med Sahoro Hokkaido, Japan

Prefer a quieter ski holiday?

Club Med Sahoro offers a relaxed mountain setting.

It’s a good option for families who want to learn skiing, enjoy the snow and spend time together.

Malaysia School Holidays Club Med Sahoro

Club Med Beidahu, China

If you’re looking beyond Japan, consider Club Med Beidahu.

Located in Jilin Province, China, the resort offers skiing and snowboarding in a beautiful mountain setting.

It’s another destination worth comparing when planning a family ski holiday.

Club Med Yabuli, China

Club Med Yabuli is located in Heilongjiang, a region known for its cold winters.

Families can enjoy skiing, snow activities and the Club Med all inclusive experience.

For those who have already visited Japan, a ski holiday in China could be something new to try.

Travelution Tip: Ski resort opening dates depend on the season and snow conditions. Early December departures need extra care, as not every resort will be ready for skiing at the start of the month.

Why Book Your Family Holiday Early?

School holidays are among the busiest travel periods for Malaysian families.

And because many families travel on the same dates, popular resorts can fill up quickly.

Here are a few reasons to start planning early.

More Room Choices

Travelling with children often means you need the right room setup.

Perhaps you prefer connecting rooms. Or maybe you need a family room with enough space for everyone.

Booking early gives you a better chance of finding a room that works for your family.

More Time to Plan

Not sure whether to visit Japan, Bali or Sabah?

Starting early gives you time to compare your options.

You can look at flight times, room categories, activities and the total holiday cost before making a decision.

A Better Chance of Getting Promotions

Club Med offers promotions at different times of the year.

Some offers may provide savings for families who book early.

But popular school holiday dates can sell out quickly, especially in family room categories.

The earlier you start looking, the more choices you may have.

Don’t Forget the Flights

Flights are another important part of your holiday budget.

Prices can rise during busy travel periods, particularly around Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and December.

For ski holidays, you’ll also need to consider airport transfers and equipment rental.

Looking at the full holiday cost helps you make a better decision.

Why Families Choose Club Med for School Holidays

Travelling with children can be great fun.

But keeping everyone happy isn’t always easy.

One child wants to swim. Another wants to play sports. And perhaps all you want is a quiet afternoon with a good book.

That’s where Club Med’s all inclusive concept comes in.

At most Club Med resorts, your holiday includes accommodation, meals, drinks, entertainment and a wide range of activities.

Children can join age appropriate Kids Clubs, while parents enjoy some time to themselves.

You can also spend the day together as a family.

It’s your holiday, so you decide how to enjoy it.

And since most things are taken care of, there’s less time spent planning what to eat or what to do next.

Some Kids Club programmes, activities and services may have extra charges, depending on the resort and your children’s ages.
