Winter Sports & Snow Activities

Club Med Kiroro Grand is a world-class, ski-in/ski-out alpine paradise legendary for receiving some of the deepest, lightest powder snow on earth. Whether you are a seasoned expert carving down untracked tree runs or a beginner stepping onto the snow for the first time, your premium all-inclusive package completely removes the hassle of logistics.

Winter Activities

Kiroro is globally celebrated by winter enthusiasts for having some of the deepest, highest-quality powder snow in Asia. The winter sports program is designed to get you straight onto the slopes with zero friction.

  • Ski-In / Ski-Out Access: Experience ultimate alpine convenience. The resort offers seamless ski-in/ski-out access directly onto the Kiroro Snow World trail system, allowing you to slide straight from the ski locker room onto the pristine mountain lifts.

  • Skiing: From wide, gentle, family-friendly runs in the Asari Area to challenging tree-lined trails in the Yoichi Area, your lift passes and group lessons are completely included. Professionally tailored group coaching is available for everyone from absolute beginners (ages 4 and up) to advanced black-diamond carvers.

  • Snowboarding: Master your turns or learn to ride Hokkaido’s legendary powder bowls. Structured group snowboarding lessons are divided closely by skill level, offering expert, safe progression under the guidance of certified G.O instructors (available for adults and children ages 8 and up).

  • Snow Trekking: For a slower, more immersive look at Hokkaido’s magical winter landscape, strap on a pair of specialized snowshoes for a guided mountain trek. Led by expert nature guides, you will traverse quiet, snow-capped pine forests, view stunning frozen waterfalls, and learn about local winter wildlife.

Travelution Specialist Insight:

“If you or your kids are absolute beginners, you must register at the Ski Desk the evening before your first day on the snow, and attend the fresh morning session. Beginner classes build on progressive skills that start strictly in the morning, you cannot jump into an afternoon slot as a first-timer.

Also, for safety on Kiroro’s legendary slopes, helmets are mandatory for everyone in group lessons. You can easily rent them right alongside your boots and skis at the resort’s Pro Shop!”

Indoor Activities

When you are ready to warm up after a thrilling day on the slopes, or simply want to escape the outdoor elements, Club Med Kiroro Grand offers an array of premium indoor experiences. From traditional Japanese wellness rituals to high-energy evening productions, these amenities are designed to keep you feeling vibrant, balanced, and fully entertained.
  • Swimming Pool: A temperature-controlled indoor oasis. • Onsen, Rotenburo, and Ofuro: Immerse yourself in the ultimate Japanese wellness tradition. The resort features authentic public bathhouse facilities, including an indoor hot spring (Ofuro) and a breathtaking outdoor open-air hot spring (Rotenburo). Soaking in the steaming, mineral-rich thermal waters while snow falls gently around you is a sublime alpine experience.

  • Sauna: Perfect for deep detoxification and melting away any lingering winter chill. Step into the soothing dry heat of the sauna to ease muscle tension, improve circulation, and deeply relax your body before or after a soak in the hot springs.

  • Table Tennis: Located inside the resort’s lively indoor recreation zones, the ping-pong tables are always a hot spot for quick family challenges or casual evening tournaments after dinner.

  • Club Med Spa*: For the ultimate mountain indulgence, step into this quiet, luxurious wellness haven. Treat yourself to a premium range of restorative massages, specialized facials, and rejuvenating body therapies designed to soothe tired slopes-weary muscles and restore your skin’s hydration using premium botanicals. (Note: Spa treatments incur an additional charge).

Travelution Specialist Insight:“Onsen Etiquette Tip: Experiencing Kiroro’s Rotenburo (outdoor hot spring) is an absolute must-do, but remember that traditional Japanese bathhouse rules apply. The onsen areas are strictly separated by gender, and swimwear or clothing of any kind is entirely prohibited. Make sure to thoroughly wash and rinse at the sit-down shower stations before stepping into the hot spring water, and always keep your small modesty towel out of the pool!”

Club Med Kiroro Grand Frequently Asked Questions

To help you book with absolute confidence, we have compiled the most frequently asked questions regarding Club Med Kiroro Grand’s winter operations.

Are ski passes and ski lessons actually included in the package?

Yes! One of the biggest benefits of a Club Med ski holiday is that your ski pass and group ski or snowboard lessons are already included in the package.

Your ski pass will be valid from the morning after check-in and remains active through to your departure day, allowing you to make the most of your time on the slopes.

Is ski or snowboard equipment rental included?

No, ski and snowboard equipment rental is not included in the Club Med package. This includes skis, poles, boots, snowboards, and helmets.

You can pre-book your equipment before your trip or rent it directly at the resort upon arrival. Ski jackets and ski pants are also available for rental.

Please note: Goggles and gloves are not available for rent for hygiene reasons. You will need to bring your own or purchase them at the resort boutique.

At what age can children start learning to ski or snowboard?

  • Skiing: Children can join the included group ski lessons starting from 4 years old.

  • Snowboarding: Group snowboard lessons are available for children starting from 8 years old.

When does the winter season run, and when is the best powder snow?

The Kiroro ski domain typically operates from early December to early May.

  • For Deep Powder (“Japow”): Peak powder season runs from late December through February, fueled by Kiroro’s legendary 21 meters of average annual snowfall.

  • For Spring Skiing: March and April offer milder temperatures, clear “bluebird” sky days, and excellent, softer snow conditions that are fantastic for young families.

Is the natural Onsen included in the winter package?

Yes! You have complimentary, unlimited access to the resort’s traditional, mineral-rich Japanese hot spring complex (Onsen).

There is no extra fee to soak in the Rotenburo (outdoor hot bath), where you can watch the snow softly fall around you after a demanding day on the mountain slopes.
