Embarking on a Club Med vacation in Japan is an exciting experience. Get all the essential Club Med Japan arrival information for a hassle-free journey. To help you get started, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about your arrival, including important forms, packing essentials, transfer details at Chitose Airport, and the transfer timetable.

1. Forms to Fill: Visit Japan Web

Before traveling to Japan, it’s essential to complete the required paperwork online through the Visit Japan Web platform. This digital service simplifies immigration, customs, and health declaration procedures.

Here’s what you need to do:

  • Create an account on the Visit Japan Web portal.
  • Fill in the Health Declaration, Immigration, and Customs forms. Follow our step-by-step guide on how to fill out the Visit Japan Web forms.
  • Once completed, you’ll receive QR codes for each process. Screenshot these codes or print them for quick access at the airport.

Completing these forms in advance not only expedites your entry but also ensures you comply with Japanese regulations.

2. Things to Pack

A Club Med vacation is all about comfort and adventure. Here’s a checklist of essentials to ensure you’re prepared for every activity and weather condition:

Clothing:
  • Winter wear (jacket, thermals, fleece, scarf, beanie, socks, and gloves)
  • Comfortable outfits for indoor and leisure activities.
  • Swimwear for on-site swimming pool.
  • Ski jacket and pants is available for rental at the resort.
Footwear:
  • Snow boots for walking outdoors
  • Casual shoes for exploring and lounging in the resort
Sports Equipment
  • You can send your skis or snowboard to the resort in advance. Be sure to include your name and Club Med booking file number with the shipment so the resort can easily identify your equipment.

Travel Essentials:

  • Passport with at least six months of validity beyond the dates of the trip.
  • Malaysian and Singapore passport holders do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days, while Thai passport holders do not need a visa for stays of up to 15 days for tourism purpose.
  • Digital copy of your Club Med booking confirmation and Visit Japan Web QR codes.
  • Phone charger, and power bank (carry-on only)
  • Activate international roaming on your departure day, or pre-purchase a Japan SIM or eSIM to ensure you have data upon arrival. Alternatively, you can purchase a SIM card in Japan, but activating it might be challenging.

Health and Safety Items:

  • Sunscreen, moisturizer, and lip balm.
  • Heat packs to keep both yourself and your phone warm.
  • Supplements (e.g. vitamin C or elderberry)
  • Personal medications (e.g., paracetamol, and cough/flu remedies). Please note that Club Med is not permitted to provide any medication, as there is no medical professional on-site.

3. New Chitose Aiport: Club Med Transfer Desk

Upon arriving at New Chitose Airport (CTS), you’ll find Club Med’s transfer desks conveniently located in both the Domestic and International Terminals. These desks are your first point of contact for your resort transfer and offer guidance on your next steps.

  • Collect your luggage and exit the arrival gate.
  • Locate the Club Med transfer desk between Gates 4 and 5.
    • For All Nippon Airways (ANA) flights, passengers exiting from Gates 1, 2, or 3 will need to walk to the end of the ANA side of the terminal, exit outside, and then re-enter on the Japan Airlines side to locate the transfer desk.
    • For Japan Airlines (JAL) flights, passengers will exit Gates 4 or 5, the transfer desk is nearby.

At both desks, register your attendance and return to the transfer desk 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Please note, there is no luggage storage at the transfer desk.

You can visit the food court on the 3rd floor of the airport for food options like ramen, udon, and burgers. Additionally, there’s an aviation museum on the same floor for an interesting experience.

On the 2nd floor, opposite the ANA check-in counters, you can try the green tea or Hokkaido milk soft serve. If you need any last-minute clothing, there’s also a small Uniqlo and Muji store on the same floor.

4. Club Med Airport Transfers Timetable

Club Med provides shared shuttle transfers between New Chitose Airport and the resort, ensuring a hassle-free journey. Please note that this service is chargeable.

For arrival transfers, your flight must arrive on or before the latest flight arrival time. For departure transfers, your flight should depart on or after the earliest flight departure time. To avoid any inconvenience, please ensure your flight times align with the transfer schedule.

If your flight falls outside the transfer schedule, we can assist with arranging private transfers or booking an overnight stay near the airport.

5. What to Do Upon Arrival at the Resort

Once you’ve reached the resort, it’s time to transition from travel mode to vacation mode. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Check-In to Your Room:

The Club Med Welcome and Services Team at the resort ensures guests have a seamless check-in experience:

  • Present your passport for registration.
  • A brief orientation to the resort’s facilities and activities will be provided.
  • A Club Med GO will assist you in wearing your wristband, which grants access to your room and resort amenities.
  • Your luggage will be delivered directly to your room.
  • If you are arranging your own transport to Club Med, check-in starts at 3:00 pm. Early arrivals will incur a fee of JPY5,500 per adult, JPY4,500 per teen and JPY3,500. per child.
2. Register for Ski Lessons:
  • Ski and snowboarding lessons are a highlight of Club Med’s winter resorts.
  • Visit the activities desk in the evening to register for complimentary group ski or snowboarding lessons based on your skill level. Private lessons are available at an additional cost, subject to availability, with priority given to guests who have pre-booked.
3. Arrange Ski Rentals:
  • Head to the ski shop to arrange your rentals if you didn’t bring your own equipment.
  • The Club Med GO will assist you with fitting boots, skis or snowboard, and helmet.
  • You will need to bring or purchase your own ski goggles.
4. Explore and Settle In:
  • Familiarize yourself with the resort map.
  • Visit the restaurant, bar, theatre, or on-site activities to kick off your stay.
5. Relax and Enjoy:
  • The resort features an onsen/ofuro, where guests are required to fully disrobe to enjoy this traditional Japanese bathing experience.
  • From après-ski drinks to nightly performances, Club Med offers countless ways to unwind after a day on the slopes.

6. Departure from Resort

  • Room Check-Out is 10:00 am. Late check-out is subject to room availability and must be arranged with reception at least one day in advance. A fee of ¥1,500 per room, per hour, applies.
  • Leave your luggage outside your room and inform reception at least 1 hour before departure for collection.
  • Visit reception to settle any outstanding bills.
  • You can continue to enjoy the resort facilities until your departure, and lunch is provided.
  • If you are arranging your own transport, please plan to depart the resort before 3:00 pm.

Final Tips for a Smooth Trip

  • Ensure you have travel insurance with ski coverage, or contact us to purchase one.
  • Check in online for your flight at least 24 hours before departure. Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to your flight.
  • If you are transiting through Tokyo, Osaka, or any other airport in Japan to Chitose, you will need to clear immigration and customs, and re-check your luggage for your onward flight to Chitose.
  • Arrive at the Club Med transfer desk 30 minutes before the scheduled departure.
