Kajian Club Med Tomamu - Bangunan Utama

Kajian Club Med Tomamu

Tucked into the snowy mountains of Hokkaido, Japan, Club Med Tomamu is one of those rare ski resorts that manages to be both exciting and effortlessly relaxing. Whether you’re here for the powder, the food, or just a break from reality, it’s got plenty to offer.

In this Club Med Tomamu review, we’ll walk you through what to expect—from the slopes and ski school to the rooms, restaurants, and everything in between.

We visited right after our stay at Club Med Kiroro Peak and came into Tomamu curious to see how it compared. It’s well worth the trip. Especially if you’re coming as a family or with a group. It’s fun, it’s convenient, and honestly, it just works.

But let’s get into the details. There’s more to it than just ski passes and buffets.

Club Med Tomamu Location

Club Med Tomamu is tucked away on the eastern side of Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost and snowiest island. It’s a remote little gem that’s far enough from the busy tourist trails to feel peaceful, but still close enough to get to without too much hassle.

Think white-blanketed forests, silent mountains, and that crisp mountain air that hits just right when you step off the shuttle. If you’re used to the more famous Niseko scene, where the slopes can get crowded and the vibe leans a bit more international, Tomamu feels refreshingly different. Quieter. Slower. More Japanese in atmosphere, if that makes sense.

What’s nice about Tomamu too is that it’s not just a ski resort. It’s part of a wider mountainous area that includes forests, rivers, and hot springs. There’s a feeling of space here, and calm. Even on a busy week, it doesn’t feel overwhelming. You’re surrounded by nature, but with all the comforts of an all-inclusive resort right at your fingertips.

Best Time to Visit Club Med Tomamu

Timing really matters when planning a ski trip to Club Med Tomamu. While the resort technically opens for the winter season in early December and runs into late March, not every week delivers that perfect powdery magic.

If you want the best snow conditions, you’ll want to aim for the sweet spot: late December through the end of February. That’s the heart of the Hokkaido ski season—when the snowfall is consistent, the powder is light and fluffy, and the slopes are beautifully groomed. It’s also the time when the ski school runs at full capacity and all facilities are in full swing.

Early December? Honestly, it can be a bit of a gamble. Some years see good early dumps of snow, but in others, the base layer isn’t quite there yet. So if skiing is the main reason you’re going, you might want to wait a couple more weeks just to be safe.

And then there’s mid to late March. While technically still ski season, the snow starts to soften as temperatures rise. You’ll notice it especially on sunny days—slopes can get slushy by afternoon, and conditions become trickier for beginners. Plus, the resort begins to wind down by then, so there’s just less going on.

Getting to Club Med Tomamu and Airport Transfers

To reach Club Med Tomamu, your journey begins with a flight into Lapangan Terbang Chitose Baharu (CTS), which is the main international gateway into Hokkaido. It’s located just outside Sapporo and is well-connected with major cities in Japan like Tokyo and Osaka, as well as a handful of international destinations.

From New Chitose, the journey to Club Med Tomamu takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes by road, and you’ve got a few different ways to get there depending on your budget, group size, and how much luggage you’re hauling around.

Club Med Shared Shuttle

Club Med offers a shared shuttle service that runs at fixed departure times from New Chitose Airport. This transfer isn’t included in your package and is charged per person, so you’ll need to book it separately and plan your flights around the scheduled times. It’s a convenient option if your flight matches the timetable.

Club Med Transfer Desk at Chitose Airport
Private Transfer with Travelution Holidays

For a smoother, more flexible arrival, Travelution Holidays offers private airport transfers directly to Club Med Tomamu. This is a great option if you’re travelling with a large family or group because unlike the shared shuttle, the cost is per vehicle, not per person. Depending on your group size, it can actually be more cost-effective than Club Med’s shared option. Plus, you won’t have to wait around at the airport or juggle ski bags while keeping kids entertained. Just land, meet your driver, and go.

Train to Tomamu Station

If you’re feeling a bit adventurous (and travelling light), you can also take the train from New Chitose Airport or Sapporo to Tomamu Station. It’s a scenic journey that gives you a glimpse of rural Hokkaido along the way. Just note that Tomamu Station is unmanned, so you’ll want to buy your return ticket in advance before you get there.

From the station, Club Med provides a free shuttle to the resort, which takes just a few minutes. It’s a good option if you’re extending your trip around Japan, or you just enjoy the experience of travelling by rail.

Arriving at Club Med Tomamu

As soon as you step into the lobby, you’re greeted by the friendly Club Med team. Warm smiles, a quick rundown of what to expect, and just the right balance of efficiency and hospitality. Just a calm, welcoming vibe that immediately makes you feel like you’re on holiday.

You’ll be handed your signature Club Med wristband, which does a bit more than say “I’m on vacation.” It doubles as your room key, so there’s no need to carry a keycard around or worry about dropping it in the snow halfway down the slopes. It’s waterproof which comes in handy when you’re bouncing between the ski lockers and the pool.

Your luggages will be sent straight to your room. Just head in, and settle in. It’s a small touch, but it makes a world of difference, especially if you’ve got kids, ski gear, or just tired arms.

Official check-in is from 3:00pm, and during peak season, it’s possible your room won’t be quite ready when you arrive. But no worries, you won’t be left waiting around with nothing to do. You’re free to start enjoying the resort right away. Grab something light to eat or sip a welcome drink at the bar, or take a slow wander around to get your bearings. The staff will walk you through the essentials—where to find the ski pro shop, ski lockers, restaurants, and everything else you’ll need to settle in.

Here’s a little pro tip: pack a small bag with your swimwear or a fresh change of clothes. That way, you can head straight into the Mina Mina Beach indoor pool, soak in the onsen, or just relax while watching the snow fall outside. No waiting, no stress.

Club Med Tomamu Resort Layout: What to Expect

Club Med Tomamu is pretty spread out, so it’s good to know what you’re walking into.

. main hub sits in the centre of the resort, housing all the key facilities: the main restaurant, Unkai Bar, the Mini Club, theatre, boutique, and most of the action. This is where you’ll be eating, relaxing, and catching the nightly shows.

. guest rooms are located on either side of this central area in separate wings, with Yubari and Nemuro buildings a bit further out. The walk is fully indoors and heated, but if you’ve got young kids or tired ski legs, it’s something to keep in mind. It’s not a deal-breaker, just part of the layout. You’ll find your rhythm by day two.

Now, if you’re here to ski or snowboard, you’ll be spending a lot of time at the Hidaka Building, where the ski lockers and ski departure is located. This is your go-to area in the mornings, and it’s where the ski school meets before heading out to the slopes. Everything runs smoothly and on time, which is a big help, especially for beginners or families trying to wrangle kids into ski boots before 9am.

Overall, once you’ve figured out where everything is, it all feels quite natural. You’ll probably end up doing a bit of back and forth between your room, the main building, and the ski lockers, but it’s easy enough to navigate.

What’s Included in Your Stay at Club Med Tomamu

One of the biggest draws of a Club Med holiday is how effortlessly everything comes together. You’re not constantly reaching into your wallet or second-guessing what’s extra. It’s all bundled into the package, and once you’re there, it really does feel like everything’s taken care of.

Here’s what’s included in your stay:

  • Comfortable accommodation in Superior, Deluxe, or Suite categories
  • Makan sepanjang hari at the main buffet and selected access to the specialty restaurant
  • Open bar with a wide selection of drinks, juices, coffees, and snacks throughout the day
  • Lift passes for the entire ski domain (already pre-arranged and handed to you at check-in)
  • Group ski and snowboard lessons, guided by qualified instructors for both adults and kids
  • Childcare and kids’ activities from 4 years and up, including Mini Club and Teens Club
  • Daily activities, fitness classes, snow trekking, family games, and more
  • Nightly entertainment with live performances, themed shows, and a fun, social vibe

You can pretty much leave your wallet in the room for most of the trip. Unless you’re planning on private ski lessons, upgrade your meals or drinks, or hitting the Nest Bar for premium sake or whiskey, there are no surprise costs waiting around the corner.

It’s that all-in-one ease that makes Club Med such a winner for families and groups. Whether you’re skiing all day or just dipping into a few activities here and there, you’re always covered. Meals are sorted, lessons is included, and the kids are entertained. That peace of mind? Genuinely priceless.

If you’re the type who loves detailed planning and itemised budgeting, this kind of package might feel a little too easy, but give it a day or two. You’ll be surprised how quickly you get used to not worrying about anything. Just focus on the snow, the food, and the fun.

Club Med Tomamu Rooms

Club Med Tomamu doesn’t just impress on the slopes, it also offers a thoughtfully designed range of accommodations that blend modern comfort with understated Japanese aesthetics. Think clean lines, calming colours, and subtle local touches like Yukata robes and warm lighting. Nothing over the top, but just enough charm to make it feel uniquely Hokkaido.

There are three main accommodation wings at the resort: Hidaka, Yubari, and Nemuro. Together, they house 341 rooms ranging from simple yet cosy Superior Rooms to spacious Family Suites.

Room Location Tips

If you’re here to ski and want maximum convenience, Hidaka building is your best bet. It’s closest to the ski lockers and the ski-in/ski-out point, so you can literally roll out of bed and hit the slopes. Just note: Hidaka only offers Bilik Superior categories.

If you’re looking for larger room types or something a little more luxurious, head to Yubari or Nemuro. These buildings are a bit farther from the ski area, but they offer a fuller range—Deluxe Rooms dan Suites included.

Club Med Tomamu Restaurants

Food’s a big part of the experience at Club Med, and at Tomamu, it really shines. Whether you’re into buffets with global flair or sizzling Japanese barbecue, you’re covered. The options are diverse, the atmosphere’s lively, and if you plan your meals right, you can avoid the crowds and actually enjoy the vibe.

Itara – Main Restaurant

Itara Restaurant is the heart of it all. This is where most people eat, and where you’ll probably find yourself multiple times a day. Breakfast, late breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served buffet-style with an ever-changing mix of Japanese, Western, Chinese, Korean, Indian, and Italian dishes.

The selection’s honestly impressive. Fresh sashimi, flavourful udon, crispy pizza (though only two are baked at a time, so yeah, it runs out fast), and even lavender ice cream. Yes, that’s a thing and yes, it’s as good as it sounds.

It does get pretty busy though. When we visited, there was a big corporate group from Singapore (around 200 people), so queues formed fast at peak hours. If you can, try eating earlier or later. We found that dining a bit off-peak meant less waiting, easier seating, and a more relaxed pace.

Haku – Specialty Restaurant

This one’s special. Haku Restaurant is Club Med Tomamu’s specialty dining spot, and it’s got two very different vibes depending on when you go.

During the late lunch hours, it operates as an à la carte restaurant with no reservations needed. It’s perfect if you’re after a quieter, sit-down meal away from the buffet bustle. The menu leans Japanese with a modern twist, and it’s a nice midday treat, especially if you’re skipping the slopes for a spa day or just taking it slow.

Late Lunch Menu
  • Tuna Rice Bowl
  • Hokkaido Salad Bowl
  • Grilled Salmon
  • Grilled Chicken
  • Soba Noodle
  • Plant Based Burger Charcoal Bun
  • Sundubu Jigae Soup: ¥11,900 (MYR349)
  • Stone Bibimbap: ¥4,300 (MYR126)

Come dinner time, Haku transforms into a yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) experience, and yes, it’s just as tasty as it sounds. It’s a cosy, more intimate space compared to the main buffet, and trust me, it gets booked up quickly. Make sure you reserve your dinner slot early in your stay to avoid missing out.

Each guest gets one complimentary yakiniku basket per stay, which is fantastic value. You’ll get a good variety of marinated meats and sides, and grilling it all yourself at the table adds a bit of fun to the meal. If you’re feeling indulgent, there’s also the option to upgrade to a Premium Basket. Think elevated cuts, seafood, and more variety. It’s a great choice if you’re celebrating or just love good food.

That said, I personally preferred the yakiniku at Club Med Kiroro Grand. Maybe the chefs were just having a great night, or maybe the vibe hit differently. Still, Haku absolutely deserves a spot on your dining list, especially if you’ve never tried this interactive, grill-at-your-table style before.

Club Med Tomamu Bars

After a day on the slopes, or even just lounging in the onsen, it’s nice to wind down with a drink in hand. Club Med Tomamu has two bars, each with its own personality.

Unkai Bar – Main Bar

Unkai Bar is the social hub. It’s lively, open all day, and perfect for catching up with friends, making new ones, or just enjoying a cocktail with snow-covered views in the background.

The drink menu is huge. You’ve got everything from classic cocktails like margaritas and Moscow Mules, to Japan-inspired signatures like the “Blue Pond” or “Unkai Terrace.” There’s beer (Sapporo Classic and Yebisu Black), house wines, spirits, mocktails, milkshakes, and even shaved ice. Plus, a long list of hot drinks—great for warming up after the cold.

Here’s just a taste of what’s included in the Club Med package:

  • Coffee/Hot Drinks: Cappuccino, mocha, hot chocolate, you name it
  • teh: Green, oolong, chamomile, yuzu honey – take your pick
  • Soft Drinks: Coke, melon soda, ginger ale, Aquarius
  • Juices: Mango, apple, cranberry-guava, even tomato juice
  • Cocktails: Pina Colada, Cosmopolitan, Planter’s Punch, and fun signatures unique to Tomamu
  • Beer & Wine: Draft beer, red/white/rosé wines, and sparkling
  • Spirits: Vodka, gin, rum, tequila, whiskey, brandy – plus some call-brand options like Smirnoff, Jim Beam, and Jameson
  • Liqueurs: Amaretto, Kahlua, Malibu, and more
  • Japanese selections: Shochu Iichiko, Sake Otokoyama

There’s something for everyone. And if you’re not sure what to try, just ask a GO for their favourite cocktail. It’s a fun way to discover new things.

Club Med Drinks - Tomamu Unkai Bar
Nest Bar – Zen Vibes & Premium Sips

Looking for something quieter? Nest Bar is your spot. It’s more intimate, more refined, and not included in the all-inclusive package, but that’s kind of the point. This is where you go for premium sake or a good Japanese whisky, not just to drink, but to savour.

Yes, drinks here come at an additional cost. But if you appreciate craft spirits or want a special nightcap, it’s worth the splurge. The setting’s beautiful, peaceful and tucked away from the buzz of the main bar. A nice change of pace.

Club Med Tomamu Activities & Entertainment

Let’s be honest—some people hit the slopes from dawn till dusk, but others? Not so much. And that’s completely okay. Because even if you don’t ski, Club Med Tomamu has more than enough to keep you entertained. Whether you’re the kind who loves adventure or someone who prefers slower-paced experiences, you’ll never run out of things to do here.

Here’s just a taste of what’s on offer:

  • Skiing and snowboarding (of course)
  • Snow trekking through magical forests
  • Fitness classes, yoga, and dance sessions
  • Snowmobiling (at an additional charge)
  • Nightly entertainment with live performances
Ski-In, Ski-Out Bliss

One of the biggest perks of staying at Club Med Tomamu? The slopes are literally right outside your door. This ski-in, ski-out setup means there’s no dragging your gear onto a shuttle or hiking through slushy paths. You step out, you glide down. Simple as that. It’s ideal for families, beginners, and anyone who just wants to make the most out of their time in the snow without the fuss.

Club Med Tomamu Ski Pro Shop

Located in the Hidaka building, the Ski Pro Shop is your one-stop spot for all your essential gear. Whether you’re skiing or snowboarding, you can rent:

  • Skis or snowboard
  • Boots
  • Helmet

Everything is professionally fitted on-site, and once you’re set, your equipment will be placed in your designated ski locker, located conveniently on the ground floor. Each guest room is assigned its own locker, and there’s a helpful floor plan at the ski room entrance to guide you.

Club Med Tomamu Review - Ski Pro Shop Rentals
Ski Wear and Accessories

If you didn’t pack ski clothes, don’t worry, ski jackets and pants are available to rent from the Club Med Boutique in the main building for ¥6,500 per person, per day (
MYR191). They carry sizes for both adults and kids, making it super convenient for families or anyone skiing for the first time. It’s a great option if you’re travelling light or just don’t want to invest in gear right away.

As for goggles, gloves, and beanies, these are available for purchase at the boutique too. But here’s a travel-savvy tip: if you’re looking to save a bit, it’s usually cheaper to pick up these items from shops like Uniqlo, Decathlon, or sports stores in Japan before you arrive. Still, the boutique’s selection will have you covered if you need something last-minute.

Skiing & Snowboarding: For All Skill Levels

Whether you’ve never set foot on snow or you’re confidently cruising down blacks, Club Med Tomamu’s ski and snowboard programme is built to meet every skill level. Group lessons are included in your stay and are led by professional instructors who specialise in making learning fun, safe, and progressive.

  • Beginners can expect patient guidance and plenty of encouragement.
  • Intermediate riders will refine techniques and gain confidence.
  • Advanced skiers and boarders can explore more challenging terrain and polish their performance.

To register, just stop by the Excursion Desk on your first evening. Once you’re signed up, your schedule will be ready for the week ahead.

Snow Trekking: A Quiet Winter Escape

If barreling down slopes isn’t your thing, consider something more peaceful, like snow trekking. With a pair of snowshoes strapped on and a Club Med GO to guide you, you’ll wander through powdery forests and take in the quiet beauty of Hokkaido’s untouched landscape. It’s not physically intense, but it’s emotionally rewarding. You might even spot wildlife or uncover trails that feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale.

Adrenaline on Ice: Snowmobiling

Need a little more speed? Snowmobiling is a thrilling way to experience the winter scenery. You’ll zip through frosty terrain for a full hour, riding solo or tandem (depending on your comfort level). It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s got just the right level of “whoa.” This activity is available at an additional cost of ¥9,500 (
MYR279) per person and is open to guests aged 13 and up. If you’re into excitement, this is a must-do.

Fitness Classes

Skiing isn’t the only way to get moving at Club Med Tomamu. If you want to stay active indoors, the resort offers a wide selection of fitness classes, from yoga and stretching to energetic dance workouts. Whether you’re trying to burn off last night’s buffet or just want to feel good in your body, these classes are a great option.

Evening Entertainment: Fun with a Twist

Once the sun sets and the slopes quiet down, Club Med Tomamu comes alive in a different way. Each night brings a new show. Sometimes it’s acrobatics, sometimes comedy, or sometimes musical. They’re not always Broadway-level productions, but that’s part of the charm. It’s easy-going, inclusive, and a lovely way to unwind with a drink in hand and a smile on your face.

Whether you’re carving down the mountain or just soaking in the winter vibes, Club Med Tomamu makes sure there’s something for everyone, on and off the slopes. So go ahead, try something new. Or try everything. It’s your holiday, after all.

Relaxation: A Tropical Escape in the Snow

At Club Med Tomamu, it’s not just about snow sports. Tucked away in this snowy Hokkaido wonderland is a warm, unexpected surprise: Mina Mina Beach. Yes, a beach. Indoors. Complete with waves, palm trees, and toasty air that makes you forget you’re surrounded by snow-covered mountains.

Mina Mina Beach

Located just across the road from Club Med’s main entrance, Mina Mina Beach is Japan’s largest indoor wave pool, managed by Hoshino Resorts. As a Club Med guest, you get complimentary access. Just show your Mina Mina Beach pass at the entrance and you’re in.

Inside, you’ll find a massive wave pool, Jacuzzis, and plenty of space to float, splash, or just soak up the tropical vibes. Whether it’s snowing outside or you’re taking a break from the slopes, this place is a dreamy little retreat that brings serious vacation energy.

If you’ve got tattoos, you’ll need to cover them up to enter. Decal stickers are available for ¥110 (
MYR3) each, or you can buy athletic braces for ¥610 (
MYR18). Rash guards and swim tights can also be rented for ¥1,100 (
MYR32) each from the towel counter if you prefer more coverage.

Downstairs, the locker area is fully equipped with showers, swimwear dryers, plastic bags for your wet clothes, and even hair dryers. Everything you need to freshen up before and after your swim. You can also rent pool floats and toys for a little extra fun if you’re travelling with kids (or just feeling playful yourself).

Club Med Tomamu Review - Mina Mina Beach
The Kirin-no Yu Onsen

Right next to the wave pool, you’ll find Kirin-no Yu, a traditional Japanese hot spring (onsen) that’s all about relaxation and wellness. It’s gender-separated, peaceful, and beautifully designed for those moments when you just need to slow down and let your muscles recover.

After a long day skiing, snowboarding, or chasing your kids around, this is exactly what your body needs. Warm, mineral-rich waters soak away tension, and if you’ve never tried an onsen before, it’s a must-do cultural experience.

To access the onsen, head over to the Kirin-no Yu counter (right beside the wave pool) and grab your towels and locker key. Similar with Mina Mina Beach, tattoos need to be covered.

Begini cara ia berfungsi:

  • Remove your shoes and store them on the shelf.
  • Place your clothes and large towel in the locker
  • Head to the showers with the small towel and clean yourself thoroughly before entering the bath.
  • Once you’re fresh and squeaky clean, slip into the steaming outdoor bath, let the snowflakes fall around you, and just exhale.
  • There’s also a sauna available if you want to sweat out the cold and stretch the muscles a little further.

Pro tip: Don’t rinse off after the bath. The minerals in the water are great for your skin. Just gently pat yourself dry. Hair dryers and drinking water are provided in the locker room so you can leave feeling completely refreshed.

Excursions: Step into a Winter Fairytale at the Ice Village

If you’re visiting Club Med Tomamu between mid December and early March (opening period is subject to change according to the weather conditions), there’s one experience you absolutely shouldn’t miss: The  Ice Village. Just a short walk or complimentary shuttle ride from the resort, this surreal, icy wonderland feels like something out of a dream.

Once night falls, the gates of the Ice Village open, revealing a frozen realm filled with sparkling sculptures, glowing lights, and pure winter magic. It’s only open in the heart of winter when the cold Hokkaido air dips below 0°C, and honestly, that extreme chill is exactly what makes this place so incredible.

What’s inside the Ice Village?

You’re in for a one-of-a-kind experience. Here’s just a taste of what you’ll find:

  • An Ice Skating Rink – Glide across the ice under a canopy of twinkling lights. Whether you’re graceful or just wobbling your way through, it’s good fun.
  • The Ice Bar – Sip cocktails served in actual ice glasses. It’s chilly, but weirdly cosy.
  • An Ice Chapel – This tiny frozen chapel is stunning in its simplicity. People actually hold wedding ceremonies here.
  • The Ice Hotel – Yes, you can even stay the night in a room made entirely of ice and snow
  • Mesmerising Light Displays & Fireworks – As night deepens, colourful lights reflect off the crystal-clear ice sculptures, and some nights end with a burst of fireworks lighting up the starry sky.

Every little corner of the village is crafted with stunning detail. From the translucent walls to whimsical carvings. It’s art, architecture, and childhood fantasy all frozen into one fleeting winter experience.

Practical Info
  • Operating Hours: Open daily from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with last entry at 9:30 PM.
  • Entry Fee: ¥600 per person (MYR25).
  • Dress very warmly. Gloves, thermal socks, scarves, and maybe even heat packs. It gets extremely cold, and you’ll be outdoors most of the time.

Whether you’re there for photo ops, or just to soak in the surreal atmosphere, the Ice Village is pure winter enchantment. It’s not something you need to do every night of your stay, but definitely go at least once. There’s nothing quite like it.

Evenings at the Theatre: A Little Magic After Dark

At Club Med Tomamu, the fun doesn’t stop when the skis come off. Once the sun dips behind the snow-capped mountains and you’ve wrapped up dinner, the theatre lights come on, and suddenly the whole resort takes on a new kind of energy.

Each night, the Club Med GOs transform into dancers, singers, acrobats, and all-around entertainers, putting on full-scale live performances that range from laugh-out-loud comedy skits to high-energy musical numbers. It’s not Broadway, and honestly, that’s part of the charm. There’s something raw and endearing about watching staff you might’ve seen earlier on the ski slopes now pulling off aerial stunts or dancing under the stage lights.

Some nights might feature a circus-style performance with aerial silks and stunts that have you holding your breath. Other evenings lean into the local culture, with dance numbers or stories inspired by Hokkaido’s traditions. And then there are the interactive shows where guests might be pulled up on stage for a bit of fun.

Is every show a masterpiece? Not quite. Some are lighthearted and a little goofy, but they’re always entertaining in their own way. Whether you’re belly-laughing at a comedy sketch or swaying along to a cover of a familiar tune, the vibe is always warm, inclusive, and just a little bit magical.

The theatre is a great spot to wind down after a full day of skiing, snow trekking, or chasing the kids through the snow. Sit back with a drink, let the kids giggle in the front row, and soak in the buzz of the crowd. It’s not just a show. It’s a nightly gathering that brings the whole resort together.

Travelling with kids? Club Med Tomamu does a brilliant job of balancing family fun with giving parents a bit of breathing room. The resort has a well-structured Kids Club programme, thoughtfully split by age group so each child gets just the right mix of care, activities, and freedom.

That said, here’s what to keep in mind:

  • Baby Club: If you’re travelling with a little one under 2, do note there is no Baby Club Med service here. Babies stay with parents, though high chairs, baby cots, and warming facilities are available if you need them.
  • Petit Club Med (2–3 years): This is a paid add-on, but it’s a wonderful option if your toddler is ready for a little independence. With caring G.Os leading age-appropriate games, snow play, and indoor activities, it gives them a chance to explore in a safe, nurturing space while you sneak off for a proper ski session, or just a quiet coffee.
  • Mini Club Med (4–10 years): Included in your stay and absolutely worth it. The Mini Club is packed with daily adventures, from beginner ski lessons to arts and crafts, treasure hunts, and mini shows the kids can star in. The G.Os are fantastic, high-energy, kind, and genuinely great at connecting with children.
  • Teens Club & Chill Pass (11–17 years): A bit more casual and less structured, which is exactly what most teens prefer. The Chill Pass gives them access to age-appropriate activities and spaces where they can join in or hang back at their own pace. Think snow sports, games, and chill-out zones. Not forced fun, just the right amount of freedom.

One of the real highlights here is the kids’ skiing programme. Whether it’s their first time on skis or they’re already zipping down the slopes, the instructors make it fun, safe, and confidence-boosting. Ski groups are small, and the sessions are adapted to each child’s level, so they’re learning and laughing at the same time.

What’s extra lovely is that everything is built into the day seamlessly. You drop the kids off after breakfast, and they’re off for a full day of adventure with friends while you enjoy your own. Then come back together for dinner, full of stories and smiles.

Meetings and Team Building at Club Med Tomamu

Club Med might not be the first place that comes to mind for a corporate retreat, but maybe it should be. While most people picture ski holidays and family fun, Club Med Tomamu quietly offers a unique setting for business with a twist of adventure.

The resort has two small, well-equipped meeting rooms, perfect for hosting presentations, brainstorming sessions, or breakout discussions. While they’re not designed for large-scale conferences, they’re more than adequate for small to mid-sized corporate groups, especially if you’re planning a team offsite, leadership retreat, or incentive getaway.

But the real magic happens outside the meeting room.

Forget the typical post-meeting drinks in a generic hotel bar. At Club Med Tomamu, team bonding takes on a whole new meaning. Picture your colleagues swapping laptops for skis, laughing their way through snow trekking trails, or clinking glasses during après-ski cocktails beside a crackling fire. Want to celebrate a big win or reward the team after smashing quarterly targets? Go all out with a private snowmobiling adventure or plan an unforgettable group excursion into Hokkaido’s wintry wilderness. It’s team building, but way cooler.

And because it’s all-inclusive, budgeting is refreshingly simple: meals, activities, entertainment, and even lift passes are all taken care of. That means no messy expense reports or awkward “who’s paying for this?” moments.

So if you’re tired of the usual hotel ballroom setup, consider taking your next corporate gathering somewhere a little unexpected. At Club Med Tomamu, you’ll find the sweet spot between productivity and play, where work and winter wonderland come together in the best way.

Club Med Tomamu Hospitality

What really sets Club Med Tomamu apart isn’t just the scenery or the slopes, it’s the people. The hospitality here is something guests remember long after the snow has melted off their boots.

From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with genuine warmth from the G.Os, who wear many hats throughout your stay. These aren’t just staff. They’re the heart and soul of the Club Med experience. One moment, they’re helping you get fitted for your ski boots; the next, they’re leading a high-energy Zumba class, or performing in the evening’s stage show. And yes, you might even find yourself sharing laughs with them over lunch or dinner. That’s just how things work at Club Med. It’s personal, effortless, and refreshingly unpretentious.

Whether it’s the ski instructor who patiently guides your child down their first slope, or the G.O. who makes the nightly entertainment feel like a celebration, there’s a sense that everyone here genuinely wants you to enjoy yourself. It’s not forced. It’s not robotic. It’s just good, old-fashioned hospitality with a touch of Club Med magic.

Even the little details are handled with care. Need help with your equipment? Someone’s always nearby. Curious about what time the next fitness class starts? They’ll not only tell you, they might just walk you there.

And then there are the “crazy signs”, Club Med’s quirky group dances that pop up at random moments, often led by a beaming team of G.Os. You might feel silly at first, but by day two? You’re probably doing them too.

The service at Club Med Tomamu isn’t just about ticking boxes. It’s about creating an atmosphere that feels welcoming, easygoing, and a little bit magical. Whether you’re travelling as a couple, or with the whole family in tow, the people here have a way of making you feel like you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

Club Med Tomamu Check-Out Process

Check-out time at Club Med Tomamu is 10:00am sharp. If you’re hoping to squeeze in a few more hours of relaxation or sleep, late check-out is available for an additional fee. Just be sure to request it in advance at the reception, as it’s subject to availability.

Travel Tips: What to Know Before You Go
  • Yes, you do need sunscreen. The sun reflecting off the snow can be surprisingly strong, and a sunburn in sub-zero weather? Not fun. Pack that SPF and apply it regularly, especially if you’re out skiing or snow trekking.
  • Goggles, gloves, and boots. Invest in good-quality snow gear. Your fingers and toes will thank you when temperatures dip well below freezing. Waterproof gloves, insulated snow boots with good grip, and anti-fog goggles are absolute essentials.
  • Master the art of layering. Outside, it’s often icy cold, sometimes dipping below -10°C. Inside? Toasty warm. The key is to dress in layers you can easily peel off as you move between the two. Think thermal base layers, fleece mid-layers, and a windproof outer shell. Indoors, you’ll often be fine in just a light long-sleeve or T-shirt with a light jacket

A bit of planning goes a long way in winter travel, and with these tips, you’ll stay warm, dry, and ready to enjoy everything Club Med Tomamu has to offer, right up until the moment you check out.

Club Med Tomamu Review: Final Thoughts

So, after a few days in the snow, endless hot chocolates, and more “crazy signs” than you expected to do on a ski trip, how does Club Med Tomamu stack up? Honestly, it delivers.

No, it’s not a five-star ultra-luxury retreat with butlers and marble bathtubs. But that’s not really the point here. What you do get is exceptional value, seamless organisation, and a laid-back vibe that takes the stress out of planning. You show up, unpack your bags, and everything else pretty much takes care of itself.

It’s a fantastic option for families, especially those travelling with kids who are just learning to ski. The beginner ski area is spacious and well-managed, with excellent instructors. Friends travelling together will appreciate the all-inclusive food and drink, fun après-ski atmosphere, and nightly shows. And for couples? There’s enough quiet and cosiness to enjoy your own snowy little love story too.

The G.Os strike a perfect balance. They’re attentive and friendly without being too much. You feel looked after, but never micromanaged. And the resort itself is thoughtfully designed, from the warm communal areas to the indoor relaxation options like Mina Mina Beach and the onsen.

Club Med Tomamu won’t be the most extravagant ski resort you ever visit, but it might just be one of the most effortless. For anyone looking for a winter getaway where everything’s included, the kids are entertained, and the snow is right outside your door. No spreadsheets, no stress, just snow, ski, and smiles.
