I recently had the chance to revisit Club Med Phuket, and honestly, stepping through those familiar gates felt a bit surreal. The last time I was here was back in May 2016, and the memories from that trip have always stuck with me. Lazy beach days, friendly G.Os, and that unmistakable Club Med energy. So when I heard the resort had undergone a major renovation, I was curious. What’s changed? What’s stayed the same? And most importantly, has it still kept the charm I remembered?
If you’re dreaming of a tropical getaway that’s hassle-free, fun, and strikes a nice balance between relaxation and activity, Club Med Phuket might just be the sweet spot. It’s nestled along Kata Beach, a quieter stretch compared to the buzz of Patong. No booming beach clubs, no frantic traffic – just soft sand, peaceful vibes, and local shops and massage spots right outside the gates. While the beach isn’t private, it’s just across the road and totally easy to access. And honestly, it works.
In this Club Med Phuket review, I’ll walk you through what’s new, what’s better, and what still makes this resort worth coming back to, even after all these years.

Best Time to Visit Club Med Phuket
The weather can make or break a beach holiday. If you’re after clear blue skies, warm sun and calm seas, the dry season from November to April is definitely the sweet spot. It’s when Phuket really shines. You’ll get long sunny days, ideal for lounging by the pool, exploring the area, or joining all the fun stuff Club Med lines up daily.
That said, the months between May and October fall into the monsoon season. It doesn’t mean it rains non-stop, but you’ll probably see short, heavy downpours, usually in the late afternoon. On the flip side, it’s less crowded and you might score better rates. So if you’re okay with the occasional shower and want a quieter vibe, it’s not a bad trade-off.
Personally, we recommend going to Phuket from December to April. Rainfall is minimal, everything feels alive and buzzing, and you’ll really get to make the most of the beach and all the outdoor activities. Just be prepared, it gets hot. Like really hot. Bring sunscreen, stay hydrated, and you’ll be fine.

Getting To Club Med Phuket and Airport Transfers
If you’re flying from Malaysia, you’re spoilt for choice. There are direct flights from Kuala Lumpur via Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia and Batik Air. Firefly also flies out from Penang. You’ll land at Phuket International Airport and from there, it’s about an hour’s drive to Club Med Phuket.
The resort offers airport transfers, which are super convenient. You can also opt for private transport or fixed-rate taxis especially handy if you’re travelling in a group or with kids.

Arriving at Club Med Phuket
Stepping into Club Med Phuket feels like a breath of fresh air. Check-in officially kicks off at 3 petang, and things move pretty smoothly from the moment you arrive.
You’ll be handed a wristband at reception, and that’s basically your all-access pass to everything in the resort. No room key cards to fumble with. Your bags? Don’t worry, they’ll be delivered straight to your room while you grab a welcome drink, stretch your legs, or maybe take a quick walk to get your bearings.
If you happen to arrive early, you can check in before 3pm, but there is an early arrival fee: THB1300 per adult, THB1000 per teen (12–17), and THB800 per child (4–11). The good news? That includes lunch on arrival. And if you’re a Club Med Silver, Gold, or Platinum member, that early check-in fee is waived entirely.

Resort Layout
The resort is pretty spread out, but the layout is easy to figure out after a day or two. Rooms are located at both ends of the resort. In the middle, you’ll find the main hub with the restaurant, bar, theatre and pool. One end has land sports like archery and golf, and the other side is where the zen pool, and kids club is tucked away. So yeah, expect to do a bit of walking, but nothing too crazy.

What’s Included at Club Med Phuket
This is really where Club Med Phuket nails it. The all-inclusive concept isn’t just a marketing buzzword here. Once you’re in, just about everything is covered. No need to constantly reach for your wallet or keep tabs on what’s extra and what’s not. It’s all sorted.
Your stay includes:
- Comfortable accommodation
- Gourmet meals and snacks (yep, that’s up to six meals a day if you’re keen)
- Unlimited drinks including juices, cocktails, mocktails and all-day coffee
- Kids clubs from age 4 to 17
- Sports and leisure activities. Think Thai boxing, flying trapeze, yoga, snorkelling and more
- Day and night entertainment (shows, music, themed nights)
- Wi-Fi throughout the resort
Of course, there are a few things that aren’t included, like spa treatments, childcare for under 4s, excursions or premium meals and drinks. But honestly, you could go the whole week without paying a single baht extra and still feel like you got more than your money’s worth.
It’s the kind of setup that lets you completely switch off and just enjoy the moment. No overthinking. No budgeting every meal or activity. Just show up, dive in, and let the resort do the rest.

Club Med Phuket Rooms
Club Med Phuket offers a variety of room types – Superior, Deluxe, and Suites. Each thoughtfully designed to comfortably accommodate up to two adults, one child aged 3 to 11, and one infant under 2.
On my most recent trip, we stayed in both the unggul dan Deluxe rooms, and I’ve got to say, the upgrades are impressive. If you’ve been here before, you’ll notice the difference immediately. Everything feels more spacious, fresher, and a lot more stylish than before. Think clean lines, modern touches, big beds, and those little comforts that quietly make a stay feel special, like proper blackout curtains, plenty of charging points, and a well-thought-out layout.

Most rooms come with a terrace or balcony, and depending on where you’re placed, you’ll either get a view of the tropical gardens or a peek at the sea. If waking up to ocean views is your thing, definitely go for the Deluxe Room or Suite. It’s worth it.
They’ve clearly put effort into the little details. From upgraded fixtures to softer lighting and calmer colour palettes. It’s still casual and welcoming, but now with that extra touch of polish that makes you want to stay in bed just a little longer.
Travelling with kids? The Family Oasis Rooms are a great option. These newer rooms are designed to sleep up to two adults and two kids, and they’re cleverly laid out so that parents and little ones can have their own space without being totally cut off. They feel light, bright, and modern, not over-the-top luxury, but super practical and comfy. There are kid-friendly touches too, which makes settling in easy from the moment you arrive.

Club Med Phuket Restaurants: Flavours of Thailand and Beyond
If you love food, or just appreciate having options, you’ll feel right at home at Club Med Phuket. Dining here isn’t just about filling your plate. It’s part of the whole experience, and honestly, it’s been taken up a notch since my last visit in 2016.
Mamuang Restaurant
The main restaurant, Mamuang, is where most of the action happens. It’s buffet-style, but not your typical buffet. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served here daily, and the spread covers just about everything. From Thai favourites to international comfort food. You’ll find Western classics, a full Italian section (yes, there’s proper pizza and pasta), Indian curries, Chinese stir-fries, and a dedicated Healthy Corner with vegan-friendly dishes.
A newer addition to Mamuang is the all-day à la carte section, which fills the gap between meal times. If you arrive late from the airport or just feel like a late breakfast or a cheeky supper, this space has got you covered. It’s relaxed, a bit quieter than buffet hours, and the menu rotates slightly depending on the day.
One thing I really enjoyed was how customisable some of the stations are. At the Chinese corner, you can pick your own ingredients and watch the chef whip up a plate of fried noodles just the way you like it. And the Thai section? Easily my favourite. Expect rich curries, warm rice porridge, stir-fried favourites, and those spicy, tangy flavours that just scream “Thailand.”

If you’re into Indian cuisine, there’s a good spread of vegetarian curries, fresh naan, and spiced rice dishes. Even if you’re not super familiar with Indian food, it’s worth giving it a try. The flavours are gentle enough for beginners, but still layered enough to be satisfying.
Breakfast deserves its own mention. The automated pancake machine is a bit of a novelty. Kids love it, and so did I. Don’t miss the Thai fried rice (seriously, it’s so good), yoghurts with fruit, and warm porridges that feel like a comforting hug in the morning.
As for desserts, the coconut, coffee, and strawberry ice creams were standouts. Simple, but incredibly creamy and flavourful. There’s also a generous fruit section with local favourites like pineapple, guava, and longan, which is a nice way to end a meal without feeling too heavy.
One quick note: pork is served in the restaurants, so just something to be aware of if you have dietary restrictions.

The Chu-Da Restaurant
If you’re craving a more intimate dining experience, The Chu-Da is Club Med Phuket’s signature speciality restaurant, and it’s definitely one to keep on your radar. Open for dinner only and requiring reservations, it offers a welcome change of pace from the lively buffet scene. The ambiance is calm and refined, the lighting softer, the setting quieter. It’s perfect for a romantic date night or just a more relaxed, sit-down meal where you’re not juggling plates and dodging kids with ice cream.
The menu leans Thai with a touch of fusion. It’s not overly large, but each dish is plated with care and packed with flavour – more of a curated experience than a feast. It’s the kind of place where you slow down, enjoy each course, and maybe order that second glass of wine without feeling rushed.
That said, we didn’t actually get to dine here this time. Since The Chu-Da no longer opens for late lunch and securing a reservation proved tricky – it was fully booked during our stay. So if it’s on your must-try list, definitely lock in a table early once you arrive.

Club Med Phuket Bars: Where the Vibe Comes Alive
After a day of activities (or lounging by the pool doing absolutely nothing), the bars at Club Med Phuket are where guests start to wind down… or sometimes wind up.
The main bar, Sanook, is the heart of the social scene. It’s where people gather before dinner, after dinner, and pretty much any time in between. The bartenders are friendly, quick with a pour, and happy to mix up a custom drink if you have something in mind. There’s a decent cocktail list, and of course, beer, wine, juices, and soft drinks are available all day – all included.
Just want some peace and quiet? Head over to the Zen Pool Bar. It’s adults-only, tucked away from the splashier parts of the resort, and perfect if you just want to sip something cold while watching the breeze move through the palm trees. It’s quiet, calming, and easily one of my favourite spots to recharge.

A Note on Renovations and Atmosphere
Since my last visit, the bar and dining spaces have all seen thoughtful upgrades. The layout flows better, there’s more seating, and the vibe feels a little more contemporary without losing that relaxed Thai resort feel. You’ll notice the difference, especially if you’ve been before.
One small suggestion I’d love to see implemented in the future: air-conditioning in the theatre area. The evening shows are great, but the humidity can get uncomfortable. A cooler venue (like what they have at Club Med Bintan) would make the experience even better.
Club Med Phuket Activities & Entertainment
Whether you’re the type who can’t sit still or someone who just wants a little fun between naps, Club Med Phuket’s got you covered. The sheer variety of things to do is honestly impressive, and better yet, most of it’s included.
You’ve got the big-ticket activities like:
- Snorkelling excursions (you’ll need to pass a short swim test the day before — just one lap, nothing wild)
- Thai kickboxing lessons – fun, high-energy, and led by instructors who make it feel more like play than a workout
- Flying trapeze – yes, that kind of trapeze. Circus-style. It’s as thrilling (and nerve-wracking) as it sounds
- Wall climbing dan memanah for anyone wanting a challenge
- Golf and tennis lessons with equipment provided
- Padel and pickleball courts – including a brand new padel setup
- Daily yoga sessions that range from gentle stretches to full-on sweat sessions
There’s even a splash park in the Family Oasis area for the little ones and plenty of scheduled kids’ activities to keep them busy while you sneak off for some grown-up time.
Every evening, the resort comes alive with nightly entertainment. Think themed shows, dancing, and high-energy performances, starring the GOs who somehow manage to work all day and still light up the stage at night.

Club Med Phuket Wellness & Relaxation
If your version of a perfect holiday involves a good book, a lounger, and a cold drink in hand — you’ll find your zen here too.
The adults-only Zen Pool is a quiet, shaded oasis where you can relax without the sounds of cannonballs and squeals. It’s perfect for couples or solo travellers who just want a peaceful moment.
Prefer pampering over paddling? The Club Med Spa delivers a more luxurious side of Phuket. I booked a 50-minute massage and honestly, it was one of the highlights of my stay. The treatment was fantastic and it came with access to the jacuzzi and steam room, which made it feel like a full-on spa day rather than just a quick massage.
At THB1,360 after a 15% discount (MYR177), the price felt really reasonable for the quality. The facilities are clean and modern, and the staff are warm and attentive. It’s a solid choice if you’re looking to treat yourself.
If wellness is more your thing, you can also book private yoga or personal training sessions, perfect for keeping your fitness goals in check even while you’re on holiday.

A Quick Note on What’s Changing
While there’s still a lot to do, a few updates are worth mentioning. The squash courts have been closed since second phase of renovations. On the flip side, newer facilities like the padel courts are a nice upgrade for those looking to try something different.
Kids Club: Thoughtfully Designed for Every Age Group
Parents – take a deep breath. You’re finally on holiday, and at Club Med Phuket, that actually means you get to relax too. Their childcare programme is one of the best in the game, offering safe, structured, and seriously fun experiences for kids of all ages, from babies to teens.
Here’s how it’s broken down:
- Baby Club Med (4–23 months) – Additional cost
Tailored for the tiniest travellers, this club offers a cosy, quiet space with plenty of cuddles, naps, and age-appropriate play. Think soft mats, sensory toys, and carers who are gentle, patient, and fully trained. - Petit Club Med (2–3 years) – Additional cost
A playful mix of indoor and outdoor activities. From painting and crafts to nature walks and games. All suited to toddler-sized attention spans. Meals and naps are part of the routine, and the carers do a great job of creating a familiar, comforting rhythm. - Mini Club Med (4–10 years) – Included
This one’s a hit with most primary school kids. Activities are super varied: treasure hunts, creative workshops, beginner sports, dancing, and even mini shows where they get to be the stars. The energy is high, the environment is safe, and the staff somehow manage to keep it all running like clockwork. - Club Med Teens Club / Chill Pass (11–17 years) – Included
No forced fun here. Teens are given a bit more freedom with options to join in (or not), from sports tournaments to DJ lessons, pool games, and hangout zones that feel cool, not cringe. It’s all supervised, but with just enough independence to keep them happy.
Each age group has its own dedicated space, and the G.Os are genuinely fantastic with kids. They’re energetic, warm, and you can tell they love what they do, which makes handing over your child feel surprisingly easy.
Even better, the Kids Club runs for most of the day, with scheduled activities in both the morning and afternoon. You can even opt in for evening care on certain nights, so you can enjoy a quiet dinner or a sunset cocktail while the kids wind down with their own evening programme.
Why It Works So Well
Honestly, one of the biggest wins here is the balance. Your kids get independence and entertainment tailored just for them, and you get time (actual uninterrupted time), to relax, explore, or just do nothing at all.
And because everyone’s happy, the family holiday ends up being more enjoyable for everyone.
Whether you’re travelling with a baby, an energetic preschooler, or a moody teenager, Club Med Phuket has childcare sorted, so you can stop worrying and start unwinding.

Club Med Phuket Check-Out Procedure
As your holiday winds down, here are a few practical things to keep in mind to make your check-out smooth and stress-free.
Check-Out Time
The check-out time is 10am. You’re welcome to stay and enjoy the resort facilities after that, but if you’d like to keep your room a little longer, late check-out is available at THB 400 per hour. It’s subject to availability, so it’s best to make the request at reception at least a day before your departure.
Transfers & Departure Time
If you’ve booked a Club Med transfer, your exact departure time will be displayed on the TV screen near the reception the evening before you leave. Make sure to check it early so you don’t miss your ride. Transfers are timed carefully to match flight schedules.
Luggage Pickup
Planning to use the luggage assistance service? Just leave your bags outside your room at least one hour before your scheduled departure, and give reception a quick call to confirm pickup.
Don’t forget to label your bags clearly, and head to the lobby at least 15 minutes before your departure time so you can identify them before they’re loaded onto the transport.
Good News: Lunch Is Included!
Even though check-out is at 10am, you’ll still get to enjoy one last meal. Lunch on your departure day is included, so there’s no need to rush off hungry. Take your time, savour one last plate of Thai curry or fresh tropical fruit, and soak up those final island vibes.
Handy Tips for Your Stay
Here are a few things I wish someone had told me before my first visit. Just the kind of practical bits that can make your stay smoother and more enjoyable:
- Pack more sunscreen than you think you’ll need. The sun in Phuket is no joke, and buying it at the resort can be pricey. Reapply often, especially after swimming.
- Don’t forget insect repellent. Mosquitoes tend to come out around sunset, especially if you’re near the gardens or poolside during the evenings. A few sprays can save you from those itchy bites.
- Reserve dinner at The Chu-Da early. This specialty restaurant fills up fast, and once it’s booked, that’s it. If you’re planning a date night or just want a quieter dinner, lock it in as soon as you arrive.
- Bring a reusable water bottle. There are water refill stations throughout the resort, so it’s easy to stay hydrated without relying on single-use plastic bottles.
- Keep a small day bag handy for check-out day. Pack your essentials- passport, sunscreen, swimwear, phone charger, maybe a dry change of clothes, so you can still lounge by the pool or hit the bar even after you’ve checked out of your room. It’s a great way to squeeze every last drop out of your holiday.
- Wear comfy footwear. The resort is spacious, and you’ll likely be walking a lot between your room, the pool, the beach, and activities. Flip-flops or sandals with a bit of support are your best bet.
- Download the Club Med app. It shows daily schedules, activity sign-ups, spa booking, and useful resort info, all in one place.

Final Thoughts: Club Med Phuket Review
So, is Club Med Phuket worth it? Honestly yes. It’s a great pick for families, couples, and even groups of friends looking for a stress-free, all-in-one holiday with just the right dose of Thai charm. Everything’s taken care of, from the endless activities to the generous buffets and kids’ clubs that actually give parents a chance to relax.
What makes it work so well is the balance. You get the seclusion and calm of a beachfront resort, but you’re not stuck in a bubble. A short stroll or tuk-tuk ride gets you to local markets, massage shops, and beachside cafés so you still get a taste of “real” Phuket without the chaos of Patong.
If there’s one downside, it’s the lack of a private beach. The beach just outside the resort is public, so you might run into outside vendors or the occasional crowd. But even so, the space is clean, scenic, and easy to enjoy with plenty of loungers and shady spots.
